Working Together We Can All Achieve

Rhos y Fedwen Primary operates the Callio Attendance system.

Regardless of the reasons for absence you will receive a letter every half-term informing you of your child’s attendance within the Callio banding.

Your child's attendance is considered excellent.

Attendance above 97% is Green

Your child's attendance needs to improve.

Attendance between 93% - 97% is Amber

Your child's attendance is considered a cause for concern.

Attendance below 93% is Red

What happens if my child’s attendance drops?

Red attendees are monitored for two weeks following the letters and should your child’s attendance continue to fall during this time a red plus letter will be issued.  If there is still no improvement you will be required to attend the school for a meeting with the attendance team. If you do receive a request it is vitally important that you attend.

What impact does low attendance have on my child?

In primary schools less than 65% of children achieve good results in English and Maths with an average of 15 days absence a year compared to almost 90% where the average is less than 8 days. Parents can be very surprised at how quickly their children can accumulate 15 days absence within a year.

Research has also shown that children who are not in school can become vulnerable. For example, children who play truant are more likely to be drawn into crime than those who do not.
