School Attendance and Term-Time Holidays

Dear Parents/Carers,

In order for pupils to achieve success and reach their potential, it is vital to have good school attendance. The Welsh government has set a target of at least 95% attendance for all pupils. If a child’s attendance falls below this figure, they experience a significant loss of learning. As a result, we discourage parents/carers from taking pupils on term-time holidays.

We will consider authorising an absence of up to 10 days if your child’s attendance is above 95%. We will also take into consideration any exceptional circumstances. We will respond to your request to confirm if it has been authorised. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school.
