An Introduction to the Eco Committee

Pwy ydym ni?

Who are we?

We are the Eco Council of Rhos y Fedwen Primary School. There are currently 10 representatives from Year 2 to Year 6. Each of us were voted by our class to be members of the Eco Committee. We chose to join the Eco Committee because we are very interested in engaging with environmental and sustainable development issues and becoming responsible citizens in school, at home and in our wider community.

The Eco-Schools programme is an international initiative. We focus on learning about topics that include: Litter, Waste Minimisation, Transport, Healthy Living, Energy, Water, School Grounds and Global Citizenship.

We take key roles in decision making in order to reduce the environmental impact of our school.

What’s next?

We will support staff to include environmental education in a variety of different curriculum areas across the whole school during the school year
We will engage the entire school and our wider community in eco-projects and actions
We will assess the impact of the topic work in our action plan, addressing what worked well, what needed adapting and how we could develop our eco-actions in the future
